Job Description:
The United States Capitol Police (USCP) is a CALEA nationally-accredited, federal law enforcement agency. The USCP safeguards the Congress, Members of Congress, employees, visitors, and Congressional buildings and grounds from crime, disruption, and terrorism. We protect and secure Congress so it can fulfill its constitutional and legislative responsibilities in a safe, secure and open environment.
Job Responsibilities:
- This position is located in the Technical Countermeasures Division (TCD), Security Services Bureau (SSB), Office of the Assistant Chief of Police for Protective and Intelligence Operations, United States Capitol Police (USCP). SSB is responsible for the supervision and delivery of security surveys of congressional offices; storage of national security materials; design, installation and maintenance of physical security systems; and Technical Surveillance Countermeasures inspections. Additionally, SSB addresses matters ranging from the protection of national security information to the protection of life and property.
- Conducts security assessments and recommends security upgrades to deter terrorism and espionage.
- Identifies technical vulnerabilities that could compromise sensitive and national security information. Records and documents findings of inspections, writes reports, and briefs Congressional staff on inspection findings.
- Develops, analyzes, and recommends program-planning documentation.
- Serves as a technical advisor to the Department and other government agencies, as well as contractor personnel, concerning the feasibility and applicability of studies and advances in protective and/or investigative technology. Conducts preliminary site surveys to evaluate potential threat levels, working conditions, and time constraints.
- Evaluates a wide array of technical observations and peripheral conditions in the search area to determine the appropriate first response and secondary actions required
Job Requirements:
- You must be a U.S. Citizen. Successful completion of a Background Investigation is required.
- Must be able to obtain and maintain a Top Secret (TS), Sensitive Compartmented Information (SCI), and “Q” clearance.
Qualification & Experience:
- For the CP-09/GS-11 you must have one year (52 weeks) of specialized experience equivalent to at least the CP-08/GS-10 level which is in or directly related to the line of work of the position to be filled and which has equipped the applicant with the particular knowledge, skills, and abilities to successfully perform the duties of the position. Specialized experience is defined as experience which includes 1) developing initiatives, projects, and activities to field state of the art engineering technologies; 2) applying electronic engineering theories and processes to technical problems; 3) developing a variety of written documents to include engineering surveys and service reports detailing specific engineering services planned and performed.
