Job Description:

The United States Capitol Police (USCP) safeguards the Congress, Members of Congress, employees, visitors, and Congressional buildings and grounds from crime, disruption, and terrorism. We protect and secure Congress so it can fulfill its constitutional and legislative responsibilities in a safe, secure and open environment.

Job Responsibilities:

• Performs a wide variety of interrelated and non-standard duties using well-defined practices.
• Assists Vehicle and Materials Screeners in the security screening of items scheduled for delivery to the Capitol Complex by off-loading packages, boxes, containers, etc., from delivery vehicles/ trailers. Reloads inspected and approved items aboard delivery vehicles.
• Performs general maintenance and cleaning assignments of the facility such as moving equipment and other items, sweeping bays, cleaning x-ray belts, machines and other security equipment.
• Operates electric or gasoline powered forklift trucks to load and unload cargo from vehicles.
• The forklift trucks have automatic or manual transmissions with up to four forward speeds and controls to lift and lower loads in the confined space of trucks.

Job Requirements:

• You must be a U.S. Citizen. Successful completion of a Background Investigation is required.
• Must complete a one-year probationary period. Must have Direct Deposit.
• Shift work may be required for this position.
• Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs.
