Job Description:

California Department of Education (CDE), the Education Programs Consultant works independently, and will perform tasks consultative, developmental, and administrative in nature. These tasks support the implementation and administration of the programs for which the HSIIO is charged, and include but are not limited to: High School Reform, California Partnership Academies, Specialized Secondary Programs, Multiple Pathways, California Common Core Standards, Career Technical Education Standards, the Strengthening Career and Technical Education for the 21st Century Act, and Career Technical Education Initiatives. Duties include, but are not limited to the following

Job Responsibilities:

  • Consult with state and local agencies regarding research-based high school reform.
  • Design and conduct workshops, seminars, and meetings to improve administrator and teacher competency, develop programs, and update and inform administrators and teachers about system-wide reform elements and other relevant topics.
  • Provide statewide leadership to school districts, county offices of education and other institutions of education to facilitate the development and implementation of policies, programs and services that promote the vision, mission, values and goals of the State Board of Education, the State Superintendent of Public Instruction and the CDE.
  • Write, review, edit, and/or otherwise prepare educational documents for dissemination; review and analyze relevant materials such as state reports, legislation, and research studies, and prepare written responses to letters and other inquiries.
  • Research and disseminate information on current educational issues and industry-based trends and practices with related innovative educational strategies and methodologies.

  • Excellent interpersonal skills, including the ability to interact well with the public.
