Job Description:
The City of Columbus, Department of Public Service is conducting a search for an opening on its Executive Leadership team as the Division of Infrastructure Administrator. The Department is searching for a public service-minded leader with a commitment to maintaining our essential infrastructure and ensuring access for all residents.
Job Responsibilities:
- Directs the development, maintenance, and implementation of a Professional Development Plan to maintain a level of professional competency within the division;
- Directs personnel responsible for infrastructure planning to include capital improvement planning, bridge program management, pavement program management, thoroughfare planning, right-of-way permits, addressing and mapping, zoning coordination, ADA programs, GIS asset management, and other 311 service requests for infrastructure needs;
- Provides direction to the department’s fiscal office on fiscal, budgetary, and contractual matters within the division; advises the fiscal office when adjustments are necessary including to operational or capital budgets;
- Directs personnel responsible for infrastructure transportation operations to include, snow and ice control, alley and street maintenance and repair, street sweeping, litter pick-up, roadside mowing, graffiti removal, and guardrail replacement;
- Directs personnel responsible for pedestrian safety infrastructure program including sidewalks and shared use paths;
- Ensures safety protocol and operational and administrative procedures are current and adhered to by all division staff;
- Directs the preparation of correspondence and technical reports and reviews required reports;
- Directs and schedules the preparation of proposed legislation and reviews and approves legislation for the division;
- Directs personnel responsible for the preparation and monitoring of work orders; creates and manages inventory of assets and asset needs;
- Develops and implements strategic goals, administrative policies, and procedures that promote consistency in service to city residents;
- Directs personnel responsible for the development and implementation of supporting infrastructure planning for multi-modal operations such as bicycles, e-scooters, and other mobility devices;
- Confers frequently with the director on operational problems and the development of policies;
- Directs the analysis, development, and implementation of work flows and procedures to improve operational effectiveness and efficiencies;
- Directs personnel responsible for preparing resurfacing program and pavement specification standards;
- Coordinates with the director’s office on personnel and labor matters within the division including selection and appraisal of personnel and disciplinary matters;
- Implements capital improvement projects as related to pavement, curbs, ADA ramps, and bridge infrastructure;
Job Requirements:

Possession of a bachelor’s degreeseven (7) years of managerial experience in infrastructure (asset) management, transportation operations, engineering, or another closely related field. Substitution(s):A master’s degree may be substituted for one (1) year of the required experience.
