Hiring Salary Range:

Full Salary Range: $38,385 – $63,975 Annually

Work Schedule
: Monday thru Friday; 7:00 am-3:30 pm.

Primary Duties/Brief Description of Work:
This position supervises the construction and maintenance of many of the city’s athletic fields throughout the city. They will supervise a team of 6 Full-time and 4 Part-time employees to manage the mowing, irrigation, janitorial, and set-up at these facilities. They will be expected to work closely with the athletics department to support all the games and events that are scheduled. This is a service critical position. Will handle employee hiring, training, scheduling, and assigning of daily tasks.

The job is NON-EXEMPT under FLSA.


Minimum Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma/G.E.D
  • Valid Driver’s License
  • 1-3 years of experience maintaining athletic fields or golf course(s)
  • 1-3 years of operating landscape equipment
  • North Carolina Pesticide License (“OR” the ability to obtain within 6 months of hire date)
  • Valid Class A Commercial Driver License (CDL) (“OR” the ability to obtain within 6 months of hire date)

An Ideal Candidate Would Also Possess (Preferred Qualifications):

  • Degree in Horticulture or related field
  • Experience managing a crew
  • Experience with Kronos Time System
  • Experience with RecTrak reservation systems
  • 1-3 years of experience operating reel mowers and specialized turf maintenance equipment
