Job Description:
Plans, administers, and evaluates or assists in the planning, administration, and evaluation of programs, projects, or functions of the department. Performs a variety of administrative staff assignments, which may not follow a prescribed routine.
Job Responsibilities:

Must follow all rules of telephone courtesy in all telephone communications.

Assists other clerical staff in performing their duties when required.

Coordinates and participates in special projects as directed by supervisor; reviews policies and procedures as directed; interprets guidelines and disseminates information.

Indexes cases disposed the previous day; posts charges associated with case, calculates amount of each charge, and balances with traffic receipts; reports traffic convictions to Department of Public Safety.

Serves as the representative of the program or project as required; attends meeting for various committees or community programs.

Types and mails letters including but not limited to: seat belt and defensive driving courses, failure to comply letters, promise to appear letters, reset letters, contempt letters, files letters, tickets, etc.

Develops, prepares, maintains, processes, and distributes various reports, records, letters, memorandums, newsletters items, and other documents pertinent to the program or project.

Performs data entry duties; operates data entry equipment in order to input data directly into the computer; verifies the accuracy of the keyed data; enters a variety of accounting and/or statistical information including traffic violations, case updates, cash receipts, closed tickets, etc; prints reports as required.

May be required to drive own vehicle for City business use.

Prepares trial docket; ensures all appropriate processes are followed and letters are mailed to defendants.

Assists in maintaining good communication between staff, visitors and other business contacts.

Conducts research regarding issues of interest to Municipal Court; prepares report of findings.

Answers, screens, and routes department telephone calls to appropriate destinations; greets and replies in person, by telephone, or by correspondence to inquiries from visitors and callers; supplies information on department policies and procedures, traffic citations, fines, etc.; refers more difficult inquiries to an appropriate official.

Assists the public by determining if they want to see the judge or pay the ticket; assists defendants by locating traffic citations, or providing other information on court procedures.

Makes copies of judgments, letters, on account permission slips, etc.
Job Requirements:

Ability to take and follow directions from supervisor.

Ability to maintain a valid Texas Driver License and a good driving record.

Extensive knowledge in computer hardware, software programs and technologies.

Ability to speak before public groups and make presentations.
-
Ability to project a positive and professional image of the City of Laredo.

Knowledge of court procedures, forms, and legal terminology.

Ability to maintain complex court clerical records and prepare reports from such records.

Ability to effectively communicate both orally and in writing in the English language and orally in the Spanish language.

Knowledge of the methods and practices of assembling, analyzing, and presenting statistical data.

Ability to maintain good planning and organizational skills.

Ability to comply with all City of Laredo policies and procedures.

Knowledge of modern office administration, methods, procedures, and equipment.

Ability to maintain good health and physical condition sufficient to permit the full performance of the duties of the position.

Ability to make independent decisions in accordance with established policies and procedures.

Ability to understand and follow complex written and oral instructions.

Knowledge of effective customer service procedures.
