Job Description:

The Department of Finance, License and Tax Assessments, is seeking a qualified candidate for the position of Financial Regulatory Technician – Business and Personal Property Assessment Unit. The successful candidate will respond to citizen inquiries related to assessments of business personal property and the review and filtering of tax returns for business licenses, business personal property, and perform related work as required.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Monitoring equipment and other functional aspects in the plant.
  • Assisting other trades with workloads outside of the plant.
  • Performing administrative tasks, compose work orders per CMMS; electrical schematics; blueprint reading; and simple technical documents.
  • Utilizing various types of electrical test equipment and electrical/mechanical systems.
  • Conducting general housekeeping and buildings/grounds maintenance at treatment plants, pump stations, or booster stations. Takes part in snow removal operations as needed.
  • Performing preventative maintenance on treatment plant, wastewater pump, or water booster station equipment.
  • Performing repairs and maintenance of hazardous chemical equipment/systems; boilers; water treatment equipment; and corrosion control chemical dosing equipment.
  • Troubleshooting and repairs equipment.

Job Requirements:

  • Considerable knowledge in basic math, accounting, business, and financial policies; City and State codes; office equipment such as a multi-line phone; and personal property tax codes and collection tax laws.
  • Skills in assessments; collections; oral and written communication; customer service; conducting research; and cash handling.
  •  Abilities in analyzing information; paying attention to detail; think critically; following directions and establishing procedures.

Job Qualification:

  • Two years of accounting support experience such as processing payments, providing direct customer service, calculating funds owed, and investigating/collecting delinquent payments;
  • High School Diploma or GED;
  • Associate’s degree preferred;
