The list of eligible candidates established as a result of this recruitment and selection process will be used to fill the current openings and may be used to fill future full-time, part-time, temporary or on-call openings. The City may offer Part-time Parking Operations Aides full time positions and offer temporary (not benefitted) Parking Operations Aides regular full-time or regular part-time (benefitted) positions without recruiting or testing additional candidates. Job Responsibilities:

  • Patrol all levels of assigned parking facilities on foot, including stairwells and elevators, assisting customers and monitoring the safety of the facilities
  • Monitor multiple live camera feeds related to garage security and customer assistance
  • Use computer-generated reports to monitor, reconcile and report on the appropriate use of permits within the parking garages
  • Direct patrons to alternative parking venues in times of facility overflow
  • Contact and cooperate with law enforcement personnel in matters relating to investigation of offenses and the apprehension of offenders
  • Provide patron instruction on use of the Pay-on-Foot equipment and instruction for contesting transactions or receiving refunds
  • Notify Parking Enforcement Officers of violations to parking regulations within assigned facilities
  • Patrol all facilities, on all levels, utilizing a City-provided vehicle
  • Perform lane reversals to convert a gate to an operating entrance or exit
  • Utilize a smart phone or similar device to complete reports, scan location markers, and document daily shift activities
  • Monitor equipment operation and traffic flow and address problems as necessary
  • Inspect restrooms and report janitorial deficiencies to Parking Maintenance
  • Receive, prepare and submit to the Parking Operations Coordinators incident reports related to parking operations during scheduled shifts
  • While on patrol, pick up light trash from the garage floors and stairwells as necessary
  • Remain highly visible and be alert to problematic or nuisance behavior and take appropriate action to mitigate them and provide assistance as needed
  • Provide emergency communications link to the Police department, contract security staff, other Parking Operations staff, patrons and employees
  • Observe and report violations of state laws or City ordinances
  • Immediately report any items deemed safety issues (e.g., hazardous materials such as needles or syringes, etc.) to the Parking Division maintenance team for removal
  • Provide information regarding parking rates
  • Coordinate the disposition of lost and found items
  • Report malfunctions or maintenance in the garage elevators or other garage systems to Parking Maintenance

Job Requirements:

  • Ability to: Interact effectively with the public; communicate effectively orally and in writing; learn and communicate facility parking and permit requirements; observe and accurately report incidences, remembering faces, place, and the sequence of events; accurately evaluate people and situations; prepare brief and accurate reports and activity logs; comprehend and make inferences from written material; speak clearly and precisely; understand and follow verbal and written instructions; and work effectively on multiple duties.

Qualification & Experience:

  • Experience and Education: Any combination equivalent to experience and education that could likely provide the required knowledge and abilities would be qualifying. A typical way to obtain the required knowledge and abilities would be: Experience – Sufficient experience working in a public service or customer service setting, monitoring the behaviors and activities of others, and/or disseminating information to patrons, to demonstrate possession of the knowledge and abilities listed above. Education – Equivalent to completion of the twelfth grade.
