Job Description:
Seattle Public Utilities’ (SPU) Watershed Natural Resources Section is seeking a Watershed Resources Technician to support forest management projects in the Cedar River Watershed on a temporary basis: to participate in natural resources monitoring projects, to assist in planning forest management activities, and to support planting projects.
Job Responsibilities:
- Support the development and implementation of forestry management activities
- Collect forest inventory data for project planning and design
- Create field layout for forest thinning and planting projects
- Conduct compliance monitoring
- Collect forest and vegetation data on long-term monitoring plots
- Perform electronic field data entry and reporting
- Conduct forest disturbance field surveys of insects and disease damage
- Conduct re-measurement of planting trial
- Support the tribal firewood collection program by conducting roadside firewood inventory
Job Requirements:
- Organization and data management skills
- Basic understanding of data analysis tools (GIS, GPS, etc.)
- Ability to work independently or as part of a strong team
- A commitment to race and social equity and understanding of City’s Race and Social Justice initiative or similar initiatives
Job Qualification:
- Experience with Microsoft Suite
