Job Description:

The Department of the Interior (DOI) has a multifaceted mission that combines natural resource protection, recreation, natural resource use, services to communities and individuals, and biological and earth sciences. Job Responsibilities:

  • Managing programs associated with interpretation, use, development, protection, maintenance and environmental quality.
  • Managing programs involving the maintenance of standards in regard to engineering, architecture, landscape architecture, history, archeology, forestry and natural and cultural resources.
  • Managing a broad spectrum of partnership programs.
  • Ensuring best practices in business management to protect park resources and provide visitor and community services.
  • Providing leadership in NPS civic initiatives, promoting public involvement and dialogue in key planning, interpretation, education and preservation issues.
  • Directing, identifying, and correcting visitor and job safety.
  • Directing park operations related to administration, including human resource management and equal opportunity; and

Job Requirements:

  • The applicant selected for this position will be required to file a Financial Disclosure Report, OGE-278, and the supplemental form, Confidential Statement of Employment and Financial Interest. All forms must be filed within 30 days after the selection for this position.
  • Selections are subject to Department approval. Initial appointments to the SES must have ECQs certified by an Office of Personnel Management (OPM) Qualifications Review Board prior to appointment and will be required to serve a one-year probationary period.
  • Agencies must request OPM approval to appoint the current or former (within five-years) Executive Branch political appointees to permanent competitive service, non-political excepted service, or career SES position. Please make note in your application package if you have held any of these positions within the last five years.
  • U.S. Citizenship required.
  • You must be able to obtain/maintain a Top Secret clearance. Selectees may be required to submit to urinalysis to screen for illegal drug use.
  • Males must meet Selective Service Registration Act requirement.
  • You will be required to make occasional travel.
