Job Description:

The Department of the Interior (DOI) has a multifaceted mission that combines natural resource protection, recreation, natural resource use, services to communities and individuals, and biological and earth sciences. Job Responsibilities:

  • The Associate Director for Partnerships and Civic Engagement is responsible for the executive direction and line management of subordinate managers for the functional areas concerning partnerships and philanthropic stewardship, tourism, state and local assistance, and the promotion of conservation and outdoor recreation.
  • Providing leadership, policy development, and national level guidance for the National Park Service partnership organization and programs
  • Managing a balanced integration of the partnership and civic engagement philosophy and establishing priorities and direction over a wide variety of programs
  • Providing service-wide program development, technical assistance, and leadership in the partnership and civic engagement/community assistance areas.
  • This is not a remote work position.

Job Requirements:

  • You must be able to obtain/maintain a High Risk, Public Trust designation.
  • Males must meet Selective Service Registration Act requirement.
  • Selections are subject to Department approval. Initial appointments to the SES must have ECQs certified by an Office of Personnel Management (OPM) Qualifications
  • Review Board before an appointment and will be required to serve a one-year probationary period.
  • Individuals selected for an SES position are subject to reassignment.
  • U.S. Citizenship required.
  • You will be required to make occasional travel.

Qualification & Experience:

  • Applicants must demonstrate progressively responsible leadership that is indicative of senior executive level managerial capability as outlined under Executive Core Qualifications and Technical Qualifications. Typically, experience of this nature will have been gained at or above the GS-15 grade level in the federal service or its equivalent with state or local governments, the private sector, or non-governmental organizations.
  • You must address each of the Executive Core Qualifications (ECQs) and Technical Qualifications (TQs) listed below.
  • Your narrative statements should be clear and concise, and emphasize your level of responsibilities, scope, and complexity of programs managed, program accomplishments with results of your actions, policy initiatives, and level of contacts.
