The Salary Range shown is the minimum and maximum for a full-time appointment. Moving and relocation expenses will not be reimbursed for this position.
- Under direction of an Assistant Chief Counsel, the Attorney IV performs the most complex, novel, difficult and sensitive legal work of the department in multiple areas of law, and is expected to have a high level of experience, strong technical lawyering skills, and subject matter expertise in one or more areas of the department’s responsibility. Provides legal analysis, advice, opinions and representation to all divisions of the department as a member of or as a lead of a practice team on various matters including, but not limited to, the Department’s Digital Experience Platform (DXP) project, the Public Records Act, litigation, and contracts. Represents the Department in internal employment law and personnel matters, including proceedings before the State Personnel Board, Equal Employment Opportunity Commission, the Department of Fair Employment and Housing, California Department of Personnel Administration, and other administrative bodies. Carries out legal functions as necessary to represent the Department.
- Knowledge of Administrative Procedures Act.
- Ability to handle a heavy caseload, work under pressure, and complete work timely.
- Active member of the California State Bar.
