Job Description:

Under general supervision of the Principal Attorney, provides support in administration of the Workers’ Compensation program. Responsible for claims administration, report preparation, and compilation of statistics. Compiles insurance data, performs cost analysis, and presents solutions to resolving claims. Provides information to and interfaces with the Risk Management Department, insurance company, injured workers, health care providers, and attorneys. May provide data for OSHA-related reporting.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for claims administration, report preparation, and compilation of statistics.
  • Compiles insurance data, performs cost analysis, and presents solutions to resolve claims.
  • Provides information to and interfaces with the Risk Management Department, insurance company, injured workers, health care providers, and attorneys.
  • Assists, advises, and follows up with injured employees and family members
  • Maintains contact with doctors, insurance carriers, and supervisors on workers’ compensation claims and concerns.
  • Arranges medical appointments and negotiates fee arrangements.
  • Creates and maintains workers compensation files.
  • Processes workers compensation wage statements and obtains wage information from Payroll for submission to the insurance company.
  • Audits medical bills using applicable fee guidelines and processes check requests for the appropriate medical payment.
  • Prepares work status reports and files appropriate notices with state workers’ compensation agencies, primarily in Texas and New Mexico.

Job Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited college or university in Business Administration, or a related field; or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience. Workers’ Compensation Adjuster’s License preferred.
  • Experience in Workers’ Compensation Administration and Insurance matters.
  • Experience representing Employers at Workers’ Compensation Hearings.
  • Knowledge of procedures and laws relating to Workers Compensation claims.
  • Ability to compile and analyze data and draw conclusions from findings.
  • Knowledge of bookkeeping procedures and workers’ compensation fee schedules.
  • Demonstrated proficiency in common computer PC applications, Excel, Word, Outlook, etc.
  • Effective spoken and written communication skills.
  • Ability to maintain effective working relationships with officers, managers, fellow employees, and the general public.
  • Ability to maintain a strong sense of propriety concerning confidential matters.
  • Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited college or university in Business Administration, or a related field; or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.
  • Workers’ Compensation Adjuster’s License preferred.
