Job Description:

This position is located in the Center for Food Safety and Applied Nutrition, Office of Coordinated Outbreak and Response Evaluation. The function of the office is to stregthen and streamline FDA’s approach to identifying, investigating, and responding to outbreaks of illness related to foods, dietary supplements, and cosmetics.

Job Responsibilities:

  •  Conducts policy analysis and studies that provide guidance and direction for FDA outbreak activities including preparedness, compliance, response, environmental assessments.
  • Prepares, reviews, and analyzes memoranda and policy strategy documents to assure that issues have been clearly identified and explained.
  • Conducts policy analysis and studies that provide guidance and direction for post response activities associated with FDA-regulated human and animal food, dietary supplements, and cosmetics.
  • Proposes, conducts and/or manages policy research in coordination with other FDA offices that provide informative, timely information.
  • Prepares issue papers, briefing papers and information documents for executive and senior leaders on a wide range of topics relative to food and feed outbreak and illness and legislation particularly in the area of privacy and security.
  • Supports the CORE Response Staff in coordinating emergency responses to epidemiological investigations, natural and man-made disasters and other potential imminent danger to the public health.

  • Conducting analyses of scientific data related to regulated foods, dietary supplements or cosmetic products; OR
  • Reviewing and evaluating scientific data recommendations for quality and to ensure regulatory compliance is maintained
