Sr. Data Engineer – Federal Reserve Careers

Job Description:

The Senior Data Engineer (SDE) is involved in designing and implementing the data and analysis infrastructure, and works closely with Architects, Data/Functional/Business Analysts, and other Subject Matter Experts (SME) and technical professionals to determine what data management systems are appropriate and which data are needed for analysis. The SDE builds and maintains data management systems that combine core data sources into data warehouses or other accessible structures to enable reporting and analysis of data across the organization. The SDE performs data conversions, imports and exports of data within and between internal and external systems. The SDE is responsible for developing and maintaining Master Data Management (MDM) solutions that create data consistency and availability across the enterprise. The SDE develops, tracks, monitors, and analyzes key metrics and KPIs.

Job Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in IT engineering, computer science, business management, mathematics, information technology, computer engineering or Information Sciences preferred, or equivalent experience. Minimum of six (6) years of work experience in systems administration, networking, DBA, DBMS design and support. Experience with information security, privacy, and risk assessment standards including FISMA, SOX, FedRAMP, etc. is preferred. Familiarity with test harnessing, test simulation, testing platforms, and testing techniques. Ability to create both technical and nontechnical end-user documentation. Working knowledge of the practical application of role specific engineering and technology including applying principles, techniques, procedures, automation tools, and equipment to the design and production of various goods and services. Experience working in an agile environment and knowledge of best practices and IT operations in an always-up, always-available service. Must possess clear, concise and effective verbal and written communication, including the ability to effectively communicate with technical personnel, business customers.
  • Management. Certification as a Data Management Professional (CDMP) is preferred.
  • Ability to create both technical and non-technical end-user documentation. Requires technical, analytical, and interpersonal skills. Familiarity with processes, tools, and frameworks. Experience working in an agile environment and knowledge of best practices and IT operations in an always up, always-available service. Must possess clear, concise and effective verbal and written communication, including the ability to effectively communicate with technical personnel, business customers, and management. Certification as a Data Management Professional (CDMP) is preferred.
  • Knowledge of Extract, Transform, and Load (ETL)  tools such as Informatica, Oracle Data Integrator for the purpose of gathering ETL requirements, design, and build mappings fulfilling stringent performance requirements.
  • Experience with Prism, Workday, PeopleSoft, Oracle EBS, Coupa, and Service Now highly desirable.
