Job Description:

The Secret Service is seeking persons who retired from the CSRS or the FERS to support our integrated mission and immediately impart their knowledge and experience to the current workforce. The Criminal Investigator’s mission is to perform critical protective and investigative assignments.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Earn Annual Leave and Sick Leave
  • Maximum age limit (under 60 at the time of appointment)
  • Individuals appointed before December 31, 2024 may continue their employment until their not-to-exceed date is reached.
  • Work Full-Time
  • Receive Overtime
  • Law Enforcement Availability Pay (LEAP) and additional compensation of 25% of the base salary will be added to locality pay.
  • Earn Full Annuity and Full Salary
  • New hires under this authority will be offered a 1-year term non-status appointment in the competitive service, with an option to be extended at the end of each year, for up to a total of 4-years.

Job Requirements:

  • Obtain and maintain a Top Secret Tier 5 clearance. For more information visit OPM Mythbuster Page.
  • Undergo occasional domestic and foreign travel.
  • Carry and use a firearm. Maintaining firearm proficiency is also mandatory. You will be ineligible to occupy this position if at any time you have been convicted of a misdemeanor crime of domestic violence, unless you received a pardon or your conviction was expunged or set aside.
  • Submit to a polygraph examination prior to your appointment.
  • Submit to a drug test and credit check prior to your appointment and random drug testing while you occupy the position.
  • Complete a pre-employment medical examination (including vision, hearing, cardiovascular and mobility of extremities) by an authorized Government physician and be determined physically fit to perform strenuous and physically demanding duties.
  • You will be required to undergo regular physical examinations and to maintain a level of physical fitness in accordance with the standards and policies of this agency.
  • Possess a valid U.S. state motor vehicle operator’s license and maintain a valid license while you occupy the position.
