Job Description:
Substance Abuse Counselors are the front line of prison treatment programs in the Alcoholism & Chemical Dependency Program. Job duties include, but are not limited to, the following:
Job Responsibilities:
- Assisting clients in developing recovery plans and community support as well as maintaining appropriate participation and progress in attaining treatment goals.
- Conducting treatment progress evaluations.
- Facilitating group therapy.
- Documenting information in OPUS (an internal electronic system).
- Developing, implementing, and coordinating treatment plans for each client.
- Preparing discharge summaries.
- Conducting intake and assessments of clients and gathering social histories.
Qualification & Experience:
- High school or General Educational Development (GED) diploma or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
