Job Description:
Oakland Community College is seeking a pool of qualified candidates with instructional skills to join our team of faculty and administrators to provide high quality programs to our district, community, and most importantly, our students. Teaching assignments may be temporary, part-time, and/or on call and may be immediate or as needed. This posting is not for a specific assignment or for a full-time position.
Job Responsibilities:
- Teaches, instructs, and coaches students in basic fire training, related topics, and skills.
- Provides lesson plans, objectives, and identified outcomes for the learning modules tied to MFFTC Basic Fire Training Curriculum.
- Works individually and with other instructors to review and evaluate individual students and their progress.
- Maintains accurate and complete student records as required.
- Monitors students’ performance to make suggestions/corrections for improvement and to ensure that they satisfy course standards, training requirements, and MFFTC state certification standards.
Job Requirements:
- Ability to teach pre-service candidates as well as paid, paid-on-call, volunteer, and public safety officer/fire fighters in the advanced programs.
- Must be a Michigan certified Instructor I, II, or III
- Must function well in an adult learning environment.
- Minimum of five years’ experience as a Michigan certified Fire Fighter I and II.
- Ability to effectively present, teach, and coach basic fire training curriculum at the basic fire academy level.
- Ability to effectively present, teach, and coach students in the advanced fire training curriculums.
