Job Description:
Under direction, the class is managerial in nature and accountable for senior manager level functions; positions allocated to this class are characterized as having a broad scope of management responsibilities, and performs related duties as required.
Job Responsibilities:
- Evaluate the existing business processes and recommend strategies to streamline areas of duplication or inefficiency, where possible.
- Directs the training and development of staff, vendors, and delegate agencies.
- Manages professional staff and directs the functions of the team by implementing policies or procedures to achieve the team’s objectives
- Support the implementation of a community engagement process that ensures the City has feedback and buy-in of appropriate stakeholders, which can include small business owners, partner organizations and delegate agencies throughout the program development and implementation process.
- Develops and manages initiatives that provide capacity building to minority and women owned suppliers
- Contributes to and oversees the implementation of strategic planning, operations, communications, compliance, procurement, performance measurement and reporting guidance related to a portfolio of supplier development projects
- Leads the RFP process including development of scope of services, service level agreements and pricing
- Functions as a senior manager and specialized advisor to executive level managers as an expert level professional. Also ensures confidentiality around projects and funding, when necessary
- Represents the department at meeting and events, which may occur during evening or weekend hours
Qualification & Experience:
- Ability to exercise tact and discretion in group and or joint interactions.
- Working knowledge of local community needs and resources.
- Strong organization and time management skills.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills.
- Ability to handle multiple tasks, often simultaneously.
- Intermediate to advanced computer skills, internet, and email.
- Significant problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work in a team or committee setting.
- Ability to meet tight deadlines.
