Job Description:

We are seeking a strategically and growth experienced team member to support new business activities including lead development, solution development, captures, proposals, and long-term strategy in conjunction within the Weapon System Integration domain. This leadership position requires collaboration across all entities external and internal. The individual supports the WSI strategy to actively pursue and grow our presence in existing and adjacent markets. This role will require a seasoned and accomplished leader with substantial business development and operational expertise along with a demonstrated record of winning new business.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Develop customer, competitor, and market understanding and relationships across USG and industry customers.
  • Conduct primary and secondary research to determine customer needs and generate business leads by developing relationships and identifying and qualifying new opportunities
  • Develop and implement multi-level and multi-dimensional customer contact plans
  • Use consultative selling techniques to better understand customer desires and work with solutions development teams to create customer-centric solutions
  • Analyze customer information and develop customer hot buttons, key performance parameters, and opportunity price-to-win
  • Leverage capabilities of multiple functions and customer access to create, identify, develop and qualify opportunities
  • Develop initial opportunity capture strategy and conduct a smooth transition of opportunity to capture manager
  • Work closely with capture managers to provide customer knowledge and strategic support for capture and proposal process

Job Requirements:

  • Support assigned business leader for new business
  • Conduct internal and external customer briefings
  • Position will require ~25% domestic travel

Qualification & Experience:

  • Ten (10) or more years of relevant work experience in the defense industry
  • Four (4) or more years demonstrated successful new business/growth experience
  • Bachelor’s degree or eight (8) years of additional work experience in lieu of degree
  • Experience leading new business and/or capture teams.
  • Four (4) or more years of successful Department of Defense (DoD) government or industry acquisition experience
  • Specifically examples of leading/generating new business opportunities with USG acquisition customers or Defense Industry Primes
  • Experience and understanding of the DoD 5000 lifecycle model, DoD uniform/civilian acquisition experience, and DoD development processes
  • Experience on DoD Internal Research and Development (IRAD, Customer Research and Development (CRAD), Technical Demonstration (TD), System Development and Demonstration (SDD) or Engineering, Manufacturing, & Development (EMD) Programs
  • Experience with weapon systems or special mission military platforms, architectures, capabilities, customers, and/or missions
  • Master’s Degree or other graduate degree
