Become a Right of Way Agent, Sr. Specialist at Southern California Edison (SCE) and build a better tomorrow. In this job, you’ll work in the Land Management Land Services Group (covering the entire service territory) which is a division of Vegetation and Land Management. You will be responsible for negotiating, administering, managing, and protecting SCE’s real property rights.

A day in the life – Get ready to think big, work smart and shine bright!

  • Procure Railroad permitting or related rights from various Railroad agencies to allow SCE to install new, replace, maintain or relocate facilities.
  • Ensure compliance with SCE’s land policies and jurisdictional requirements in connection with Railroad licensing, maintenance consents, encroachments, and major transmission line, distribution and communication relocations.
  • Review and analyze property rights, resolve land issues with customers, address billing/invoicing with internal and external clients.
  • Coordinate and lead meetings, provide detailed project related information to the project team.
  • Represent the company as a primary contact in property management and/or transactions involving railroads and other right of way rights, initiatives and projects.
  • You will also travel to various site locations, occasionally, using a personal vehicle.


The Essentials

  • Five or more years of experience in managing, negotiating, or sale of real property.
  • Experience with relocation projects, encroachments, leases, licenses, and permits.
  • Valid U.S. driver license.

The Preferred

  • Bachelor’s degree, or higher, in business or related field or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
  • Experience with permitting, construction work plans, job hazard analysis’ and/or site specific work plans.
  • Five or more years of experience in right of way management, civil engineering, commercial property management or title company.
  • Experience plotting/preparing general legal descriptions.
  • Experience deciphering maps, including land plats and land development plans such as grading plans, street improvement plans, traffic control plans, plot plans, Google Earth, Land Vision, and GeoView.
  • Experience analyzing and reviewing property rights information and related agreements and contracts.
  • Experience planning and organizing workloads and managing politically sensitive projects.
  • Experience facilitating meetings and presentations with both internal and external partners at all levels.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office suite.

  • Work Mode: When a return-to-office date has been determined, this position’s work mode is hybrid. The employee will report to an SCE facility for a set number of days with the option to work remotely on the remaining days. Unless otherwise noted, employees are required to reside in the state of California. Further details of this work mode will be discussed at the interview stage.
