Job Description:

The Learning Assistance Center (LAC) has a long history of supporting student success at SCC with a tradition of providing excellent service. The LAC Coordinator provides leadership and is an advocate for students. They focus primarily on the mentoring of (Level I) Peer Tutors and assisting students and faculty in establishing supportive tutor relationships. Classification Part-time, non-exempt staff

Job Responsibilities:

  • Supervise, develop and assign tasks to current tutors (Primarily Levels I and II).
  • Manage test tutor schedules and availability.
  • Train new Tutors on skills-based tutoring.
  • Assist in the creation and management of operating budgets for supplies, equipment, and personnel (With guidance from the Dean of Teaching and Learning Support).
  • Give in-class presentations as well as orientation tours. Set and accomplish goals.
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives. Submit paperwork in an accurate and timely manner (reports and timesheets).
  • Attend Teaching and Learning Support Division meetings. Actively pursue professional development opportunities.

Job Requirements:

  • Education Individual must have a Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college (Master’s preferred).
  • TESOL certification or degree preferred. CRLA tutor certification preferred. NCLCA certification preferred.
  • Knowledge and Skills Must have intermediate working knowledge of computers, Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Google docs and sheets, and Moodle.
  • Must have accurate record keeping and documentation skills.
  • Minimum of one year of tutoring/teaching experience required (2 preferred).Working Conditions and EnvironmentIndoor, lab setting
