Job Description:

The Systems Administrator is mainly responsible for coordinating and providing technical support and network administration to all MRC-DDS staff.  The system administrator will be responsible in performing installations, configurations, repairs, support, and maintenance for SSA issued or approved equipment including laptops, printers, servers, networking, as well as maintaining procedural documentation. The incumbent will coordinate with federally approved vendors regarding service calls on equipment repair, equipment upgrade and software resolutions. The incumbent will provide support for Microsoft operating systems, Office 365, SharePoint online, 3270 terminal emulators, Interim Outbound Fax (IOF) servers, Front End Capture System (FECS) servers, Enterprise Administrator and Ultrabac.  Additional responsibilities include managing accurate hardware inventory and tracking on both the LAN and IBM midrange computers.  This role operates and provides coverage for the systems during SSA business hours.

Job Requirements:

  • Work closely with users and contractors to assist with their use and understanding of the SSA applications.
  • Manage MRC DDS IT inventory, computer hardware deployments, including wiring and port assignments
  • Maintain 100% customer/user satisfaction as it relates to DDS systems, while delivering DDS systems reports on time and with accuracy
  • Respond professionally to all customer inquiries in a timely and efficient manner
  • Test custom software for standards and functionality as well as document errors that are found and work with various departments and vendors to fix and resolve issues
  • Develop and maintain a thorough understanding of all SSA case processing software (DCPS) components, and their interrelations to each other
  • Manage systems environment backups including scheduling, rotation, log review, integrity of backups, etc.
  • Work with all MRC DDS departments to ensure interrelated issues and solutions are understood by all parties involved.
  • Test, analyze and resolve all technical issues occurring in the case processing system (DCPS), print servers, faxing services, indexing storage, reports, etc.
  • Demonstrate knowledge and understanding of SSA security policies to ensure staff compliance
  • Deliver timely response and support when scheduled and authorized to cover support outside of normal business hours
  • Translating IT technical language into easy-to-understand business language.
  • Analyze and resolve all issues occurring in the third-party case processing system (DCPS)
  • Monitor, investigate, install, and maintain communication connections between servers, PC’s switches, routers, printers, and users on PC access

Qualification & Experience:

  • Hands-on experience and knowledge with developing SQL queries, stored procedures, and other tools to create robust data warehouses, reports, and visualizations.
  • Possess a valid driver’s license with access to a vehicle and ability to lift 25 lbs. (computer equipment including desktops, monitors, printers, servers, etc.)
  • Ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing, ability to write concisely to express thought clearly and develop ideas in logical sequence.
  • Ability to work independently and in a team setting.
  • 4 years of system administration and IT support related experience supporting a large environment with over 1,000 users.
  • Extensive working knowledge and hands-on experience with the following technical tools: Active Directory, SharePoint, Office 365, Azure, AWS, MFA, and other Windows-based technologies.
  • Working knowledge of various Microsoft Operating Systems, Office Suites, and other enterprise products.
  • Excellent organizational, analytical, and interpersonal skills with a high degree of attention to detail
  • Ability to anticipate and analyze difficult situations and take corrective action to prevent problems from reoccurring.
  • Hands on expertise of midrange systems in large scale (100+ servers) environments- IBM, HP, Oracle, & Dell server hardware.
  • Ability to adjust to changing priorities based on current needs and priorities within a dynamic technical environment.
