Summary This position is located on the Angeles National Forest in Arcadia, CA. This position is on a Forest Service unit to operate motor vehicles and operates a trash removal truck weighing up to 20 tons; equipped with a front end hydraulic loader. Responsibilities Perform routine operator maintenance on these vehicles, notifying my supervisor if vehicle needed repairs. Keep records, such as vehicle logs, records of cargo, or billing statements, in accordance with regulations. Driven on and off roads, through all kinds of traffic, terrain, and weather to haul cargo or passengers, and/or tow equipment. Follow instructions concerning trucks or other large vehicles to be operated including destination, cargos, purpose of trip and deadline to be met. Select routes based on legal weight allowances, corrected for wide turns and ensured that cargo did not shift or vehicle tipped. Operate vehicles in all types of weather and traffic conditions over constricted areas, narrow city streets, congested parking lots, construction sites, and open fields to manipulate the vehicle properly because of size and weight. Provide instruction and guidance concerning best practices to meet schedules and deadlines.
