Job Description:
This position performs a variety of complex program support duties that require interpretation and judgment in the application of Agency and State policies and procedures.
Job Responsibilities:
- Responsibilities include consulting on scientific and technical issues, conducting routine epidemiologic investigations, data collection/analysis, and providing health education and disease control recommendations.
Job Requirements:
- Experience working in a medical office setting is needed to perform the duties of this position.
- This position participates in emergency planning and response activities.
- Working knowledge of accounts receivable related to medical claims and patient payments including collections, claim rejections, denials, appeals, and overpayments.
- Reviews and analyzes various accounts receivable reports to ensure entries are accurate and processed in accordance with policies and procedures.
- Experience with computer applications such as Microsoft Office applications is required.
- Demonstrates the ability of account resolution and excellent attention to detail is needed.
- Experience in checking out clients in a clinic setting that includes collecting payments, reconciling receipts, and scheduling appointments.
- Experience in general office procedures and practices is required.
- Minimum Qualifications
- Demonstrated knowledge of medical coding.
- Experience with third-party payer web portals for claims-related research and activities.
- Finalizes encounters generated during various clinics for the Roanoke City/Alleghany Health Districts.
- Basic secretarial skills such as operating a computer, fax, calculator, copier, or other office equipment is required.
